Supervision opportunities
I welcome inquiries from prospective doctoral students interested in studying the impact of financial technology on investor behavior and market structure.
I am particularly drawn to projects using an experimental methodology and/or game-theoretic modeling. In a PhD student, I value first and foremost a strong economic intuition (to identify good questions), a clear analytical mind, the ability to communicate ideas well and take feedback, and a healthy drive to succeed in the academic job market — which involves aiming for top journals and conferences.
To discuss potential supervision (for the summer 2027 intake), please contact me at marius.zoican@haskayne.ucalgary.ca.
For details on the PhD admission process at the University of Calgary, visit the Haskayne Doctoral Programs page.
I am also interested in hiring Calgary-based research assistants for related projects on an ad-hoc basis.
